By Tim Redding, Music Director/Worship Coordinator
I miss y’all! That is the simplest way to put it. I miss seeing you on Sundays, I miss your smiles and hugs, I miss the office volunteers, I miss choir practice and handbells, I miss all of the good food and fellowship after worship and on Wednesdays, I miss seeing the excitement of the children in worship… I even miss committee meetings! (Crazy, huh?) And yet, your good health and safety is the top priority, so the session and staff will continue to make decisions with that in mind. Still, I MISS Y’ALL!
Pastor Ken and I are currently working on some ideas for an outdoor hymn sing, but we need the weather to cool off a little first! In the meantime, we are also brainstorming ideas for hand-bells to return this month (with rehearsals in the Fellowship Hall, socially distanced and masked). I also have music chosen for a Christmas “cantata” which will include the hand-bell team, a quartet of singers, and musicians; we just don’t yet know how all that will work!
I mentioned in my June Press article that “our music program will look different in the fall.” It is still coming together in the planning phase, and some ideas must change from week to week or even day to day. But I also said in my June article: “Out of adversity always comes the best art.” I hope and pray that whatever we end up doing in the coming days, we are all safe and healthy, and that God is pleased with our worship, in all its many forms.
