Youth Update

This Sunday (May 30th) we are scheduled to have Monica Williams, the Executive Director of Montgomery Center, join us in worship. She will be taking time to share with us many of the things going on around Camp Montgomery, her vision for the future, and the ways in which we can help.

In my short time here, I have already been to Camp Montgomery 3 times and I’m looking forward to taking 10 kids to camp again this summer. I thought this month I would use this space to help promote this incredible resource that we have in Camp Montgomery. I know that some of you already have a great attachment and wonderful memories of this place. So, forgive if “I’m preaching to the choir.”

Located just outside of Starke, FL, the Montgomery Conference Center has welcomed all people to experience Christ and creation for more than 60 years. Situated on 3 serene lakes and more than 140 wooded acres, it has hosted thousands of people as they take a break and experience the wonder of God's creation. In addition to camp programs, they welcome corporate, community, and social events.

At her first meeting with the Board of Directors, Monica Williams, Executive Director, presented The Redemption Plan: Clean, Organize, Unite, and Restore. The plan came after many walks through the property, meetings with staff and members of the community, and prayer.

With God first, Montgomery can help reverse the trend of young people moving away from the church. With the support of the Board of Directors, the Presbyterian family, and the Christian Community, Camp Montgomery will be a pivotal center in the community.

There are a few different ways that we can all help:

1. PRAY – Pray for Monica, her staff and the Board as they work to serve the Kingdom. Also, pray for the events and the lives that can be touched while they are there.

2. WORK – Montgomery can use people who are willing to give of their time and talents to help make needed improvements around the property. There have been groups and families that have adopted different areas or cabins and helped revive them. (Picture included from the Adopt a Cabin Program.)

3. GIVE - Contributions can be directed to three different areas: Programming, Physical Assets, Endowment, or Conference directed greatest need.

As I said before, my trips to Montgomery have been very meaningful to me, I know that we have something special.

If you would like to help in any way, contact Monica or Zach at Montgomery Center. (352) 473-4516.
