Since 1923, boys have been learning how to be Prepared for Life® in Troop 85 at First Presbyterian Church of Lake City through outdoor adventures and leadership using the patrol method. Troop 85 has produced more than one hundred Eagle Scouts, in that time period, who have become business owners, community leaders, teachers, attorneys, non-profit directors, pastors, and more. A Tufts University study concluded that participation in scouting builds character qualities in 6 key areas: cheerfulness, kindness, hopeful future expectations, trustworthiness, helpfulness, and obedience.
If you believe your boy or girl could benefit from leadership training and character development while having fun, scouting may be for you. The best way to learn about us is to visit one of our meetings in person. You can then register online to begin your scouting experience.
